A Career at the Highest Level
Donnie was selected by the Kansas City Royals in the fifth round of the 2002 MLB Draft. Over his 14-year professional playing career, he spent five seasons in the Major Leagues and played for several organizations across Major League Baseball.
Major League Baseball
During his Major League career, Donnie played for the Kansas City Royals, Oakland Athletics, Miami Marlins, Chicago Cubs, Texas Rangers, Cincinnati Reds, Atlanta Braves, and Milwaukee Brewers organizations.
Infield Versatility
Donnie played all infield positions throughout his professional career. That experience gives him a broad perspective on defensive positioning, footwork, glove work, and the fundamentals required to play the infield at a high level.
Donnie's Baseball Journey
High School — Riverside, California
Donnie attended Riverside Poly High School, where he earned first-team All-CIF honors in California.
Orange Coast College
He played for legendary coach John Altobelli, was named the college's Male Athlete of the Year, and set a single-season school record with 76 hits.
2002 — MLB Draft
Donnie was selected in the fifth round of the MLB Draft by the Kansas City Royals, beginning his professional playing career.
Professional Baseball
Over 14 professional seasons, Donnie gained experience across multiple organizations and appeared in 335 Major League games, recording 33 home runs and 119 RBIs.
2016 — Toronto Blue Jays Organization
After retiring as a player in 2015, Donnie began coaching in the Toronto Blue Jays organization. He spent four years as a hitting coach, including work with future Major Leaguers Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. in Lansing.
Player Development & Coaching
Donnie later transitioned into managing, spent 2024 as a Triple-A bench coach, and has served as a minor league infield coordinator for the Blue Jays.
